Toadstool duo paper illustration

$30.00

Original collage on 4x6 wood panel.

They’re happy-making aren’t they? Whether you call them toadstools or amanita or agaric, their little red and white selves have to make you smile. This petite piece features two little toadstools to double your delight, and a menagerie of hand-cut details.

The process : I sit in front of a gelli plate with an array of acrylic paints in front of me and mix, dab, and roll colors across the plate. I lay a piece of paper down on it and when I peel it up, the paint has adhered itself to the paper. As layers of paint builds up, the pieces become more and more interesting. When they’re dry, and inspiration strikes, I simply sit with scissors and glue and cut my vision from the paper. I like to think of what I do as paper illustration, and my style is quirky and folksy, and always inspired by nature. Those cool papers end up giving the collages/illustrations a painterly feel and ensures that no piece can ever be duplicated exactly.

The sides are painted a forest green. It is varnished with a matte varnish with a slight but intentional texture. This piece could be framed or can be hung as-is.

Shipping to the United States only. Sorry, I can’t ship internationally at this time.
