Coreopsis original paper illustration

Part of my ongoing exploration of pollinators and the habitats they depend on and affect. This petite piece features bright yellow coreopsis flowers, deep green foliage, and a deep periwinkle sky.
The process : I print each sheet of paper using acrylic paint and a gelli plate and use them to create paper illustrations. The unique papers give these pieces a painterly effect. The overlapping pieces add texture and interest. Each piece is sealed with a matte sealer.
The sides are painted a deep gold. It is varnished with a matte varnish with a slight but intentional texture. This piece could be framed or can be hung as-is.
